چکیده

Background and aim: Malawi’s rainfed, agrarian economy is vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. Changes in crop production may impact household food security wealth. Popular narratives ‘climate migration’ suggests that, amongst other responses, migration (usually rural-to-rural or rural-to-urban) will increase response change, as households attempt diversify their income improve prospects. The study aim was explore relationships between variables, internal at level. Methods: We performed descriptive epidemiological analyses understand patterns within Malawi, associations these factors. Using a conceptual model drivers migration, we informed step-wise approach build set multiple linear logistic regression models relating variables directly, mediated by range indicators sociodemographic Models examined intra- inter-district variability explored differences profiles rural urban districts. Results: Modest positive were identified status average number meals consumed for southern districts migrant families. Conclusions: Findings suggested that changes quantities, such droughts, impede through poverty traps. These modest findings also challenge popular which over-assert role In future, continues, alter, with implications urbanisation rates, systems development pathways Malawi. Climate Change and Food Security: Health Impacts in Developed Countries

BACKGROUND Anthropogenic climate change will affect global food production, with uncertain consequences for human health in developed countries. OBJECTIVES We investigated the potential impact of climate change on food security (nutrition and food safety) and the implications for human health in developed countries. METHODS Expert input and structured literature searches were conducted and ...

Future climate impacts on maize farming and food security in Malawi

Agriculture is the mainstay of Malawi's economy and maize is the most important crop for food security. As a Least Developed Country (LDC), adverse effects of climate change (CC) on agriculture in Malawi are expected to be significant. We examined the impacts of CC on maize production and food security in Malawi's dominant cereal producing region, Lilongwe District. We used five Global Circulat...

Climate Change and Global Food Systems: Potential Impacts on Food Security and Undernutrition.

Great progress has been made in addressing global undernutrition over the past several decades, in part because of large increases in food production from agricultural expansion and intensification. Food systems, however, face continued increases in demand and growing environmental pressures. Most prominently, human-caused climate change will influence the quality and quantity of food we produc...

Climate change and food security.

Dynamic interactions between and within the biogeophysical and human environments lead to the production, processing, distribution, preparation and consumption of food, resulting in food systems that underpin food security. Food systems encompass food availability (production, distribution and exchange), food access (affordability, allocation and preference) and food utilization (nutritional an...
